International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations The Estonian Logistics and Freight Forwarding Association has been a member of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) since 1995. A member company of the ELEA may apply for associate membership of the FIATA.
Relations between the parties to road transport contracts of international goods are regulated by the CMR Convention adopted in Geneva in 1956. Estonia joined the CMR Convention and the additional protocol thereto in 1993.
Association of Estonian International Road Carriers (ERAA). The ERAA is a voluntary association of entrepreneurs who provide road transport. The ERAA was founded on 30 October 1991 in Tallinn. Since May 1992, the ERAA has been a full member of the International Road Transport Union (IRU). The objective of the union is to develop road transport as a profession and to protect the rights and interests of its members.
The International Road Transport Union was founded in 1948 in Geneva. Its objective at the time was to unify organisations providing road transport that were operating disparately. Estonia is represented in the IRU by the Association of Estonian International Road Carriers (ERAA). The most important task of the International Road Transport Union is to follow jointly adopted operation principles to improve international road transport.
